SDSURF Responsible Conduct of Research Online Trainings

Trainees are to complete the SDSURF RCR online trainings. Effective November 1, 2015, the CITI Responsible Conduct of Research training will replace the previous SDSU tutorial (Ethics Core). Follow these instructions for information about which courses to take and how to create or update your CITI account to include your SDSU affiliation. This web training will satisfy the minimum online RCR training requirements for SDSURF. The Division of Research Affairs and the SDSU Research Foundation will be able to verify your completion of the training. Failure to complete this training may jeopardize your ongoing support. Email Jill your certificate(s) of completion for this an any other RCR trainings.

Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Face-to-Face Requirement

(per the NIH Grants Policy Statement – section 11.3.3.5 and NIH Policy NOT-OD-10-019)

As the trainee is being supported by NIH federal funds, they must meet their Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) requirement of a minimum of 8 face-to-face discussion hours of topics related to ethics in research. Any required online trainings at SDSU, UCSD and/or TSRI must also be completed. Trainees are to keep a clear and detailed log (date, participants, topics) of all attended training sessions and PDFs of all completion certificates. RCR training generally includes coverage of scientific misconduct, research subjects (animal or human), conflict of interest, collaboration, data management, mentoring, peer review, authorship, publication, and social responsibility.

NOTE: The 8 hours requirement is per your tenure on the NIAAA T32 per station/phase (pre or postdoc).
