The training program and its trainees are evaluated on an ongoing basis. Predoctoral trainees are evaluated formally within the context of the JDP and both pre- and postdoctoral trainees are to complete an evaluation form annually with their mentor(s). All first-year trainee formal evaluations are reviewed by the T32 Directors in consideration for an additional 12-months of funding for a maximum of two years per trainee. Evaluation forms are made available to the External Advisory Committee members as well. Additionally, there is informal feedback primarily from the trainee’s mentor(s) who meet with the trainee on a regular basis. Trainees are encouraged to provide feedback on their own training and on the program. The T32 also has a self-review of the program in terms of the ability to attract high quality scholars, publication rates, presentations, internships, job placements, and other characteristics shown by trainees.
